In the first quarter of 2009, Taganrog Commercial Seaport transshipped 167,000 tonnes of cargo (-31%, year-on-year). In the reported period the port handled 51 vessels, the company reports.
Transshipment of import cargo fell by 91% to 5,700 tonnes, export – by 39% to 111,000 tonnes, coastal trade cargo – totaled 50,000 tonnes (no coastal trade cargo was handled by the port in January-March 2008).
Transshipment of steel fell 2 times to 11,000 tonnes, grain – by 22% to 10,000 tonnes, containerized cargo – by 86% to 2,000 TEU (-86%).
The core of the company’s throughput was formed by oil cargo (50,000 tonnes) and coal (81,000 tonnes) which demonstrated positive dynamics.
The company plans to increase its container transshipment capacity to 90,000 TEU per year.
Taganrog Commercial Seaport OJSC is a stevedoring company of the port of Taganrog. In 2008 the port handled 1.44 million tonnes of cargo, container throughput totaled 48,800 TEU.
