Palmali Group has rejected purchase of two 13,000-dwt tankers built by Krasnoye Sormovo Shipyard under earlier signed contract, IF Region cites Nikolai Zhukov, the shipyard’s Director General, as telling journalists.
According to the source, the rejection notice was received by Krasnoye Sormovo on January 19, 2009. According to the contract, the shipyard was to build five vessels for Palmali. 3 vessels have already been delivered to the customer.
Nikolai Zhukov says the tankers rejected by Palmali, will be sold to National Maritime Shipping Company KazMorTransFlot.
As it was reported earlier, Krasnoye Sormovo shipyard and National Maritime Shipping Company KazMorTransFlot signed a contract for construction of three 13,000-dwt oil tankers in 2009. According to the document, the first tanker will be delivered to the customer in September 2009, the second and the third – in May and in August 2010 respectively. Total value of the contract – $66.450. Nikolai Zhukov noted the second tanker will probably be delivered ahead of schedule – in 2009.
The tankers built for Palmali cost $24.5 mln each while the price set up for KazMorTransFlot is $22.2 mln.
Krasnoye Sormovo shipyard is a part of MNP Group which also incorporatesVolgograd Shipyard, as well as Sormovskoye Mashinostroeniye (Nizhniy Novgorod), Volgograd Special Engineering Plant and Volgo-Caspian Design Bureau.
