Sakhalin Sea Shipping Company OJSC gave up the idea to build two container vessels at a shipyard in China.
Such decision was taken by the company’s shareholders last Friday, RZD-Partner reports.
“Almost 95% shareholders voted against the contract on construction of two ice class 7,000 ton dwt container vessels. In their opinion, the world economic crisis is not the suitable time to carry out large investment projects,” said a source in the company.
He added that Sakhalin Sea Shipping Company won’t build new vessels in the near future.
To remind, the contract on two container vessels construction was concluded in 2008.
