“We are analyzing possible launch of a joint venture. Nowadays, our specialists are examining the economic constituent – what should be the share of each participant in the project. Finally, we will decide, whether it is reasonable or not,” told Nikolay Tokarev, President of Transneft, to journalists.
“Oil will be transported anyway. It will be better, if it is our company. Then, we will be able to control its activities and provide efficiency,” he explained.
East Siberia – the Pacific Ocean pipeline is being built to transport oil to the market of Asian and Pacific region. The project is to be carried out in two stages. The first stage envisages the construction of the oil pipeline section Taishet (Irkutsk region) – Skovorodino, and building of an oil bulk terminal at the Pacific coast. The capacity of the terminal is to amount to 15 million tons per annum. From Skovorodino to the Pacific oil will be carried by railway. The first stage of the project is to be put into operation in Q4, 2009.
