Offsite meeting of the Federal Marine and River Transport Agency (Rosmorrechflot) and Social Council under Rosmorrechflot was held in Rostov-on-Don, at the Water Transport Institute named after Sedov.
According to IAA PortNews journalist, the meeting was dedicated to future development of Russian ports in the Azov-Black Sea Basin and draft Strategy of RF water transport development till 2030. Besides, the participants discussed the possibility to improve training of industry specialists.
According to Victor Olersky, Deputy Transport Minister of the Russian Federation, annual throughput of ports in the Azov-Black Sea Basin will grow to 412 mln t of cargo by 2030 against 176.7 mln t 2012. This will become possible with implementation of project on modernization of ports in the Krasnodar and Rostov regions: Temryuk, Kackaz, Novorossiysk, Sochi, Azov and Rostov-on-Don. Besides, new dry cargo district of Taman seaport will be built in the Krasnodar region by 2020. Its annual throughput will be 94 mln t.
“Expansion of southern port is the only way to improve the quality of services amid competition with other states including Ukraine,” Victor Olersky thinks.
