Krylov State Research Center has won the tender for the right to supply the electric propulsion system for icebreaker of Project 22220, the company announced. The customer of the system is Baltiysky Zavod-Sudostrioenije (United Shipbuilding Corporation).
TSNII SET, the branch of the Krylov State Research Center will create, test and supply the electric propulsion system for the new icebreaker.
Under the project, TSNII SET will create a package of electrical equipment for the propulsion system of Project 22220 icebreaker, the capacity of which is 60 MWt.
The package will comprise 2 main generators of 36 MWt each, central switchboard of 10.5 kW, 6 static frequency converter of 16 MWt each, 3 tandem propelling motors of 20 MWt each and electric propulsion management system.
Krylov State Research Center has an extensive experience in supplying such systems to warships and civil vessels.
Krylov State Research Center was set up in 1894 as Russia’s first model testing basin in the central part of St. Petersburg. It is a scientific research organization of the national shipbuilding sector focused on conceptual and workshop designs of naval ships, merchant vessels and offshore structures as well as on their operation and disposal.
