Maiden call of M/V Thalassa Hellas received by CICT

CICT Terminal, in the Port of Colombo, opened a new chapter in the maritime history of Sri Lanka recording the maiden arrival of a ultra large mega vessel THALASSA HELLAS (13,808 TEU capacity) on 08th October, 2013 as the first fixed service of CICT. Mr. Liu Yunshu, Overseas Operation Officer of CMHI and CEO of CICT, Dr. Priyath Wickrama, Chairman of Sri Lanka Ports Authority, Captain Nihal Keppetipola, Managing Director of Sri Lanka Ports Authority and Captain Wang Youxin, Evergreen Representative in Colombo, officially commissioned the lifting of the first container by attending to the required formalities, China Merchants said in a press release.
Following the ceremony, Mr. Liu Yunshu, Dr. Priyath Wickrama, Captain Nihal Keppetipola and Captain Wang Youxin boarded the Vessel for the traditional exchange of plaques between the Vessel and the Terminal.
Serving China, Europe and Mediterranean trade, the LOA of M/V THALASSA HELLAS has a length of 368 meters with a capacity of 13808TEU’s, deadweight of 152,343 tons and drafts of 15.8 meters. CICT will handle 1000 moves on her maiden call.
