In January-September 2013, Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg OJSC handled 5.8 mln t of cargo (-14%, year-on-year), the stevedoring company announced.
In the accounting period, the company handled 4.3 mln t of general cargo, mainly ferrous metal (-20%). Their transshipment lost almost 36% to 1.5 mln t with the general fall of Russian exports of metal caused by low demand in the global markets.
Transshipment of loose and bulk dry cargo climbed by 17% to 1.5 mln t. Transshipment of mineral fertilizers surged 1.7 times to 871,000 tonnes.
The company decreased exports by 12% to 4.5 mln t, imports – by 18% to 1.3 mln t.
JSC Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg (included in UCL Port – stevedoring division of the International transportation group UCL Holding) is the largest operator, rendering services on handling of all types of dry cargoes in the Big Port St. Petersburg. It operates modern specialized terminals for handling of container, reefer, ro-ro cargoes, cars and metals. In 2012 the turnover of Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg amounted to 8.7 mln. tonnes of cargoes.
