Bureau Veritas has certified the information security management system of State Revenue Committee of the Republic of Armenia (SRC) to ISO 27001 international standard. The certificate reflects the government tax collector’s recognition of the importance of data security to high quality public services, Bureau Veritas said in its press release.
The certificate was presented on October 7, 2013, to Mr Gagik Khachatryan, Chairman of the State Revenue Committee of the Republic of Armenia by Etienne Casal, Vice President Certification of Bureau Veritas. Didier Michaud-Daniel, Chief Executive Officer of Bureau Veritas, also attended the ceremony at Bureau Veritas’ headquarters in Neuilly-sur-Seine, near Paris.
ISO 27001 certification enables organizations to assess information security risk and implement appropriate controls to preserve confidentiality, integrity and availability of information assets.
Gaining ISO 27001 certification represents an important step for the SRC. It responds to a number of key aims, including safeguarding the continuity of public services, gaining recognition from international organizations such as the World Bank and the EBRD, and increasing the confidence of taxpayers and other parties using the SRC’s tax administration services.
