Under the survey of Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) a new generation fishing vessel is built by OAO Leningrad Shipyard Pella, Otradnoye, Russia. The vessel launching ceremony was held on 28 May 2014, RS says in its press release. The RS class notation is КМ✪ Ice2 AUT1 Fishing Vessel.
The highly automated vessel of project PL475 was designed for longline fishing using resource-saving methods and modern technologies of fish processing as well as product storage and transportation. The vessel capacity will be up to 500 t per day. The fishing target species are cod, haddock, halibut, wolffish, perch and other ground species. The construction of the vessel is conducted as part of implementing ambitious plans for Russian fishing fleet renovation.
The new trawler is a single-hull, single-screw vessel with a single-tier deckhouse amidships level with the bridge deck, and aft engine room. The living quarters are on the upper deck. Comfortable accommodation and working conditions for the crew are ensured on board.
Main particulars: length – 47.5 m; breadth – 12 m; depth – 5 m; speed – 13.5 knots; crew – 20 persons.
The vessel can make international voyages. Its sea endurance is up to 10 days. RS class Iсe2 enables the independent navigation in open pack ice of up to 0.5 m thick at a speed of 5 knots. It is planned to complete the construction by late July 2014.
Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) is taking an active part in the renovation of the Russian fishing fleet. A hi-tech freezer trawler Taurus built under the RS survey by the Uljanik yard of Pula, Croatia is now efficiently operating. This ship is equipped with automated lines for fish dressing and freezing, fillets and canned fish production. At present, under the RS survey the outfitting of the sister ship Mirakh is under way at the yard.
