Throughput of EVRAZ NCSP up 20% to 3.62 mln t in Jan-May’14

In January-May 2014, EVRAZ Nakhodka Commercial Sea Port handled 3.62 mln t of cargo (+20%, year-on-year), the company’s press center says.

Coal transshipment totaled 2.02 mln t, ferrous metal – 1.5 mln t.  20-pct growth in January-May should be attributed mostly to considerable increase of dry bulk cargo transshipment, the statement says. In particular, coal transshipment surged by 46%, year-on-year.  Coal and ferrous metal make the core of the stevedore’s throughput.

In May 2014, the company’s throughput increased by 6% to over 802,000 t of cargo.

EVRAZ Nakhodka Commercial Sea Port is a major stevedore company operating at the largest Russia’s Far Eastern Port of Nakhodka, located in the eastern Gulf of Peter the Great, in Nakhodka Bay. The port is linked to the Eurasian continent through the Trans-Siberian Railway, serving the Asia-Europe-Asia trade flows. JSC EVRAZ NCSP operates on 15 cargo berths and one facility for handling the port’s workboats, of total length of 3.5 km, which can accommodate ships with length of 230m, breadth of 32m and draft of 11 m. Currently, at least 15 ships are able dock at the port’s berths simultaneously and the port is able to handle more than 1,500 large vessels a year.
