The construction of two RS class vessels for LUKOIL has commenced in China. According to the press center of Russian Maritime Register of Shipping, the steel cutting ceremony was held on June 18, Keppel Nantong Shipyard Co., Ltd (Nantong).
According to the agreement signed between RS and Keppel Nantong Shipyard in spring 2014, the Register provides the full range of classification and conventional services. Technical supervision of the construction process will be executed by RS subdivisions in China. The vessels will be classified as КМ✪ Arc4 [1] AUT1 ICS FF3WS DYNPOS-2 Supply Vessel.
Vessels’ characteristics: length overall – 80 m, width – 16.5 m, depth – 6.2 m, draught – 3.8 m, deadweight – 1,000 t.
When completed and delivered in 2015, these vessels will support offshore platforms at the Filanovsky oil field in the northern part of the Caspian Sea, off the coast of Russia, providing year-round services such as the delivery of cargoes, salvage, search and rescue functions, fire-fighting operations, and towing and tanker mooring operations.
Ice model testing of the hulls was held in March 2014 in the model testing basin of Aker Arctic (Finland). Arc4 class will let the vessels operate during winter navigation. The vessels will also be fitted with the equipment for extinguishing of fires at offshore fixed platforms and for oil spill response activities.
Besides, a salvage ship is being built at Keppel Singmarine Pte Ltd, Singapore within the framework of Filanovsky field development and cooperation with LUKOIL.
