American Chamber of Commerce and USPA sign Memorandum of Cooperation

American Chamber of Commerce and the State Enterprise «Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority» signed the Memorandum of Cooperation during a meeting of the Working Group on the development of seaports operating within the framework of the Chamber, USPA says in its press release.

According to the document, the parties announced intentions to cooperate in the promotion of consistent government policy aimed at simplifying and improving the business environment as well as creation of conditions for development of the national economy and the seaports.

In addition, the Chairman of USPA Andrey Amelin and President of the Chamber Bernard Casey agreed to promote bilateral cooperation in scientific and technological fields, based on mutual benefit to strengthen relations in the maritime transport sector. It is also planned that the parties will work towards legislative, infrastructural and organizational conditions for the creation of proper conditions for enterprises operating in maritime ports.

During the meeting, the President of the Chamber Bernard Casey thanked the management of USPA for its willingness to cooperate with the American Chamber of Commerce and the desire to join hands in creation of favorable economic and investment climate in Ukraine, as well as the conditions for improving the international image of Ukraine.

The Chairman of USPA Andrey Amelin stressed that the enterprise intends to continue direct dialogue with the business in the development of port infrastructure.

During the meeting, the Head of Strategic Development Department of SE «USPA» Vyacheslav Voronoy presented the procedures implementing and supporting projects related to the development of seaports in Ukraine. He introduced legislation and problematic issues for implementation of investment projects in the port sector.

Members of the Working Group on the development of seaports expressed mutual interest in further cooperation with USPA in two major areas:

1. Simplification of control procedures for containers and exchange of experiences with U.S. ports, namely in technical and regulatory aspects;
2. Promoting cooperation between USPA and international financial institutions.
