Lawyers recommend using separate vessels in Crimea, those not calling at Ukrainian ports

Lawyers recommend using separate vessels in Crimea, those not calling at Ukrainian ports, comments Kirill Maslov, Managing Partner of Saint-Petersburg based law office Inmarine.

“Of course, there is a risk of negative sanctions against vessels in Ukraine, but if a company does not work in Ukrainian market, the degree of risk is considerably reduced. Those ship owners who call at the ports under the jurisdiction of Ukraine are recommended to use separate companies and vessels for operation in Crimea, those which will not appear in the waters of Ukraine,” the lawyer says.

He also noted that a “sea craft can be arrested only upon a limited list of marine claims, but not on any other claims”.
