More ferries to appear at Temryuk-Kerch and Novorossiysk-Feodosia lines, RF Transport Minister says

More ferries to appear at Temryuk-Kerch and Novorossiysk-Feodosia lines, RF Transport Minister Maxim Sokolov said at the meeting of Government members with RF President Vladimir Putin. According to the Minister, Novorossiysk-Feodosia line will obtain an additional ferry “this week” with a new car and cargo ferry to appear at Temryuk-Kerch line from July 2014.

At of today, passenger and automobile transportation across the Kerch Strait is performed by four ferries which carry some 12,000 passengers and 3,500 automobiles per day. 

“We are going to launch one more ferry from July. It is a sister ferry of the largest ferry boat Ionas. Then, they will be able to carry over 300,000 passengers per month and will thus totally service over 2 mln passengers across the Kerch Strait by the end of the year,” the Minister said.

He also said that the Minister is working hard on the project on construction of Crimea-Kerch bridge passage.

From April 2014, ferries made some 3,700 voyages having carried about 550,000 passengers, 125,000 automobiles, almost 4,000 buses and 11,000 rail cars. Cargo and passenger flows are divided from May 2014.
