Tuapse Commercial Seaport concerned about drastic fall of coal deliveries
Tuapse Commercial Seaport forecasts loss of 100,000 t of coal in throughput of August’14. As IAA PortNews was informed at the port, stevedores explain the situation with the initiative of Russian Railways to reduce August deliveries to the port and local decrease of coal loading at the stations of the West Siberia Railway.
According to the data of Tuapse Commercial Seaport, Russian Railways OJSC has reduced the master plan for August coal shipments towards TCS to 110 wagons per day instead of earlier announced 142 wagons. With the revised plan, the port will loose 68,000 t of coal in August.
Besides, shippers say that Russian Railways also imposed limits on cargo shipments towards the stations of the North-Caucasus Railway.
With the above limits, average daily loading towards the port over the first 12 days of August was only 95 wagons even with the “reduced” plan for 110 wagons. Certain days saw the loading of only 29 wagons. This situation will inevitably entail more losses, at least 30,000 t.
Tuapse Commercial Seaport OJSC is the main operator at the port of Tuapse, one of Russia’s largest ports. It is a part of UCL Port, stevedoring division of international transport group UCL Holding. UCL Port also consolidates OJSC Sea Port St. Petersburg, CJSC Container Terminal Saint Petersburg, Universal Handling Terminal LLC based in North-West of Russia, and Taganrog port in the South. In 2013, the port handled 12.3 mln t of cargo.
The company’s fleet of transshipment equipment consists of 29 portal cranes with the capacity of 10 to 124 tonnes and 65 loaders and bulldozers.
