Intensive care catamaran to be built in Astrakhan region in September (photo)

Intensive care catamaran is to be built at shipbuilding base in Yaksatovo settlement (Astrakhan region) by mid September 2014, says press center of the region’s Prime Minister. 

Russia has no such vessels today, the statement says. As of today, the hall has been built and the navigation equipment has been installed. Next works on the schedule are painting of the hull, interior finish and fitting of the boat with medical equipment. 

The Intensive care boat named Aurora will be used for rescue and prompt evacuation of injured in emergency situations and technological disasters at sea. The catamaran is 15 meters long. The speed of this low slung boat is up to 90 km/h. The catamaran can sail in brash ice and in waves of up to 2.5 meters high.  

The boat will have 2 intensive care beds with shock absorbers, stretchers, chairs for medical personnel, all means of communication and navigation, heating and amenities. It will be a fully-autonomous boat.
