North-Western Shipping Company OJSC and Volgo-Baltic Logistic (subsidiary of NWSC) have completed the delivery of oversized equipment for production of liquid chemicals at petrochemical facilities in Bashkortostan. According to the statement of North-Western Shipping Company, total weight of the equipment is almost 2,000 t.
To implement complicated transportation of project cargo from European ports to UFA, Volgo-Baltic Logistic had developed an optimal logistic chain involving transportation of the equipment by the Danube and inland water ways of the Russian Federation considering insufficient depth at certain waterways. The company had performed complicated engineering calculations and developed a number of projects for transportation, placement, fixing, loading/unloading of cargo. VBL specialists had arranged transshipment of reactor equipment at the berths of Germany to Danube barges and further consolidation of cargoes to NWSC vessels in the ports of Belgium, Romania and at the Kama river.
The delivery lasting from May to August involved river and sea going vessels of North-Western Shipping Company.
North-Western Shipping Company is the largest carrier in Russia’s water transport system, specializing in shipping import / export general cargo, bulk and loose dry cargo, tugging of oversized cargo and vessels. The company’s fleet comprises over 60 sea-and-river-going vessels, 10 sea-going vessels and 3 ro-ro barges with total deadweight of some 336,000 t. The company annually carries over 6 mln t of cargo.
