Swire Shipping to offer North Asia Express service
Swire Shipping will launch a new express service between North Asia, Papua New Guinea (PNG) and Australia in July 2015. The North Asia Express (NAX) service provides a direct link between North Asia, Townsville in Australia and Lae in PNG. It offers a 16-day transit between Shanghai and Lae, and a 10-day transit between Townsville and Shanghai. NAX will complement Swire Shipping’s existing North Asia Trade, providing a market leading 10-day frequency from North Asia to Lae, , the Company's press release said.
Jeremy Sutton, General Manager, Asia Trades said that the North Asia Express service will expand Swire Shipping’s network coverage across the region. “As part of our commitment to providing sustainable shipping solutions, Swire Shipping will be deploying two modern, highly fuel-efficient multipurpose “Chief Class” vessels to service this route,” Mr. Sutton added.
Swire Shipping will be taking delivery of four new “Chief Class” vessels from Ouhua Shipyard over the next two months. Service schedules will be published in the next few weeks.
