Rosneft conducts a geochemical engineering and geophysical surveys in the Eastern Arctic

According to the press service of the company, Rosneft has successfully completed the field stage of the complex expedition organized by the Arctic Research Center (ARC) in the Eastern Arctic. The works were carried out from board of the multipurpose salvage vessel ice navigation capacity of 4 MW project MPSV07 "Spasatel Karev", the company said in its press release.

During the expedition participants performed geochemical and geophysical engineering studies at license areas of Rosneft subsoil waters of the Laptev Sea, the East Siberian and Chukchi seas. This is the 1st stage of the regional geological and geophysical work.

The main objective of this stage - detailed and qualitative assessment of the prospects of oil and gas fields, oil and gas accumulation zones and the identification of the fields.

According to the results of this stage the models of the structure of the sedimentary basin and its major parts are identified regularities of geological, geophysical and geochemical parameters of the sedimentary cover and basement. The present work was carried out in an interactive mode of planning in view of ice conditions monitoring supported by the geological survey of Rosneft's offshore projects, that allowed to conduct a full scope of work as had been scheduled with the greatest efficiency.

Investigations were carried out with the help of multipurpose salvage vessel project MPSV07 " Spasatel Karev " in accordance with the requirements of environmental legislation in compliance with all standards of environmental and industrial safety. According to the results of research the necessary geophysical data describing the target outputs of geological horizons to the surface of the seabed are obtained. Forecast areas of deep hydrocarbon output will be made on the basis of the collected data on the geochemistry of sediments and bottom waters, and ranked objects in order to select priority geological exploration (GE). It will also determine the level and nature of the distribution of radioactive elements, macro- and microelements in stratified sections of sediment and sediment geochemical specialization.

"Spasatel Karev" – is unique in its equipment and technical possibilities of multipurpose salvage vessel ice navigation, built by the order of PKU "The management of state customer development programs for maritime transport" of the Federal Agency of Sea and River Transport of the Russian Federation Ministry of Transport for Morspassluzhba Rosmorrechflot at Nevsky Shipyard.
