Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed the Federal Law “On Introduction of Amendments into Article 51 of the Merchant Shipping Code of the Russian Federation”, says the Kremlin.
The Federal Law was passed by the State Duma on 27 January 2017 and approved by the Federation Council on 1 February 2017.
The Federal Law is to regulate the payment for icebreaking and ice pilotage services in the water area of the Northern Sea Route provided to warships, naval auxiliary ships and other ships owned by the Russian Federation and constituent entities of the Russian Federation, or operated by them and used only for governmental non-commercial services.
According to the Federal Law, the size and the procedure of applying the tariffs for the mentioned services are to be set in compliance with the rules of Clause 5 Article 51 of the Merchant Shipping Code of the Russian Federation.
