MRTS is interested in dredging of the main navigable pass at the seaport of Arkhangelsk to deepen it from 7.5 m to 9.2 m, IAA PortNews correspondent cites Nikita Ananyin, Deputy Director General on Development, MRTS Terminal LLC, as saying at the 4th Forum of Dredging Companies held in Moscow on 15 February 2017.
According to preliminary estimations of MRTS expenses under this project will make about RUB 200 mln (dredging without coast protection).
Nikita Ananyin says MRTS is in negotiations with the regional government, commercial companies and FSUE Rosmorport.
The businesses are ready to take part in the project with their own expenses. State authorities will consider this issue only in the framework of the dedicated federal programme, said Nikita Ananyin.
“As of today, we have settled upon the necessity to elaborate a Declaration of Intent and cargo base feasibility,” he added.
The project on dredging at the port of Arkhangelsk is to ensure a number of advantages: increase of cargo flow in the region; improvement of transport competitiveness; status of a federal infrastructure project; development of shipbuilding cluster; opportunity to arrange assembling of large capacity vessels; expansion of the range of cargo; development of the Northern Sea Route; generation of jobs; higher fees for ships’ calls; higher tax allocations, development of tourism sector with the calls of cruise ships.
