Intermodal Asia 2017 to take place from 21st-23rd March 2017
Key industry players will come together at Intermodal Asia 2017 to do business, network and discuss industry trends and innovative solutions. At a time when change is vital to drive the industry forward, Intermodal Asia will take place from 21st-23rd March 2017 at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center (SWEECC). The three-day event will provide a meeting place for over 7,000 international decision-makers from more than 80 countries, including 160+ leading exhibiting companies and 85 speakers.
New for 2017, Intermodal Asia will be launching the Industry Leaders Strategy Summit (ILSS); a conference featuring industry experts speaking on the wider strategy and perspectives within the Intermodal and Container Market. The ILSS will explore the current and future perspectives of the industry through focused themes. Speakers include high level representatives from: Maersk Group, ABN AMRO, Global Shippers Forum, Dow Chemical, Shanghai International Shipping Institute (SISI), European Shippers’ Council, Drewry, Dachser, Grisons Peak Investment Bank, Maritime Strategies International, Ports and Shipping - International Transport Forum, SeaIntel Maritime Analysis and Port of Hamburg.
As well as the inaugural Summit, Intermodal Asia will host two free-to-attend conference streams - the Innovation Theatre and the Technology Theatre – which will bring together a wide range of leading experts to discuss the innovative solutions and technological advancements driving forward developments that will shape the future of the industry.
The Innovation Theatre will feature the latest innovations in intermodal transport and container shipping including ‘Container Weighing’, ‘Changing Business Models in the Container Supply Chain’, ‘the @tco Tank Container Forum’, ‘the Environmental Protection Forum’ and “the ‘Intermodal in China Forum’. Within the Technology Theatre, there will be a focus on the technologies available, including; ‘the Innovations and Developments in Box Technology Forum’, ‘Cold Chain: After HFC’s’ and ‘Smart Shipping: Big Data and The Internet of Things’.
In view of growing environmental pressures in China, the Environmental Protection Forum will address and discuss the issues being faced in the transition to waterborne paint systems in order to reduce VOC Emissions. Discussion topics will include; the economic impact to factories and buyers of using waterborne paint systems; paint system options; the effect on volume of production; technical challenges encountered so far and how these will be overcome. The goal of the transition to low VOC paint systems is to help improve air quality in China whilst providing buyers with high-quality containers – this forum will discuss how the industry will achieve this goal.
The @tco Asian Tank Container Forum, co-sponsored by AICM, will focus on the safe transportation of chemicals using tank containers. This forum will discuss; the advantage of combining the two tank container organisations (@tco and ITCO); evaluation of the current logistics within the Chinese economy; update on the @tco depot audit system reflecting government regulation and an introduction to the ITCO e-learning programme.
The Intermodal in China Forum, hosted by the Shanghai International Shipping Institute (SISI) will look at current trends, innovations, issues and solutions affecting the intermodal industry in China. The forum will discuss topics including; intermodal transport rules and systems; Comparison between Intermodal Transport Organizations in the United States and China; Construction and Development of an Interoperable Port Hub System in the Backdrop of 21st Century Maritime Silk Road; China Shipping Prosperity Situation and Future Service Mode of China Shipping Industry and Big Data Analysis and Application in Intermodal Transport.
Delivering multiple events across the three days – Intermodal Asia will also showcase the world’s largest exhibition container park. Displaying over 40 units, the Container Park offers a unique opportunity to explore the latest container transport innovations from all angles, including dry box, reefer, special, tank, chassis and modular.
