Danish shipping company Maersk is interested in operation at the lanes of the Northern Sea Route, IAA PortNews correspondent cites Sergei Ivanov, Special Representative of RF President for Nature Protection, Environment and Transport, as saying today, 30 March 2017, at the briefing in the framework of the IV International Arctic Forum ‘Arctic – Territory of Dialogue’ in Arkhangelsk.
“The volume of cargo carried along the Northern Sea Route is growing from year to year and will continue growing, most drastically with the commissioning of port Sabetta and Yamal-LNG project. Great interest in this respect was expressed by Maersk, which has been long and successfully operating in the Russian market. – I have recently met the head of Maersk in Moscow. The prospects of Russia-Denmark cooperation here in the Arctic, on the Northern Sea Route, and in the business as a whole, are beyond the sphere of political controversy.”
Today, Sergei Ivanov will hold a meeting with Anders Samuelsen, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Denmark, on the initiative of the Danish side.
