In January-June 2017, Vostochny Port JSC (part of the holding run by Port Management Company LLC) handled 11.7 mln t of cargo, up 4%, year-on-year, says the stevedore’s press center.
In June 2017, the Port exported 1.8 mln t of coal.
In the 6-month period, the company handled 267 bulkers including six Capesize ships with deadweight exceeding 100,000 t. Three Capesize bulk carriers loaded with high quality coal left Vostochny Port for S. Korea and Taiwan in June.
Anatoly Lazarev, Managing Director of Vostochny Port JSC, comments: “We meet the throughput plan and see a positive dynamics. Cargo flows usually intensify in summer and in early autumn with throughput traditionally growing versus winter months. Yet, the year’s first half was also bright. For example, January, March and April shipments were record high over the recent 15 years”.
Average daily wagon discharge from the beginning of 2017 - 915 units. All in all, 159,482 wagons were unloaded in the first half of the year.
The company’s statement also says that investments in equipment modernization and protection of the environment in 2017 will make RUB 150 mln.
Vostochny Port JSC (Primorsky Territory) is Russia’s largest publicly available terminal equipped with wagon dumpers, conveyor systems, ship loading equipment and a unique multilevel system of magnetic separation. The terminal exports coal produced by different coal companies of Russia. In 2016 the port handled 23,5 mln t of coal, one fifth of all coal exports via Russian seaports and about 30% of coal transshipment via the ports of Russia’s Far East Basin.
Throughout its operation history the port shipped 390 mln t of coal and handled 6.6 mln railcars and 28,000 ships. Over the recent decade, coal exports from Vostochny Port exceeded 200 mln t, a record high result among all coal ports of Russia.
Vostochny Port JSC LLC is implementing an ambitious investment project on construction of the coal terminal’s Phase 3 including the construction of the federal railway infrastructure. New terminal facilities will be put into operation in 2017 allowing for port capacity to reach 39 mln t in 2019. The coal will be delivered from Kuzbass and other coal fields of Russia. A sole executive body of Vostochny Port JSC is Port Management Company LLC.
