Nuclear-powered icebreakers of FSUE Atomflot completed their contractual work of winter-spring navigation on June 30, 2017. From November 2016 to June 2017 Rosatomflot’s icebreakers made 102 calls to port Sabetta under agreement with Yamal LNG, 54 calls to oil terminal at Cape Kamenny under agreement with Gazprom Neft, 6 vessels were escorted to Cape Chaika under agreement with VostokUgol.
Aleksandr Nikifirov, Head of Fleet Management Group, FSUE Atomflot, says the Yamal and 50 Let Pobedy icebreakers escorted vessels from Cape Zhelaniya and the Kara Gate strait to the Gulf of Ob. The Taimyr and Vaigach icebreakers operated in the Gulf of Ob. Between January and May 2017, icebreakers ensured smooth operation at the access canal of the Yenisei Bay to port Dudinka.
Portoflot tugboats have resumed operations at port Sabetta. Ice-class tug Tambei has been working in Sabetta from May 6, the Pur tug – from June 1.
As of today, three of Atomflot’s four icebreakers are deployed for sea operations with the Vaigach icebreaker undergoing scheduled repairs in Murmansk till mid-August when it will be replaced with the Taimyr icebreaker.
Nuclear-powered icebreaker 50 Let Pobedy opened tourist season on June 15. The ship has already delivered 239 tourists from different countries to the North Pole. The last voyage is scheduled for August 1 12.
