Reconstruction of Beringovsky Port will let boost coal exports to 2 mln t per year – Beringpromugol

Beringpromugol (subsidiary of Australia’s Tigers Realm Coal), which is an anchor resident of the Priority Development Area Beringovsky (Beringovsky PDA) in Chukotka is going to build a coal processing plant in the framework of the Amaam field development project by 2019, press center of the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East cites Ilya Belov, General Director’s Advisor on cooperation with state authorities.

The project will be implemented in three stages. Stage One (up to 2019) – construction of the processing plant and production of 1 mln t per year. Stage Two, Ilya Belov says, will require reconstruction of the Beringovsky Port that will let increase coal exports to 2 mln t per year. Stage Three foresees the development of the Amaam to full capacity (production of 5-10 mln t of coal per year).

According to the company representative, key markets of the coal are Japan, Korea and China.
