Throughput of port HaminaKotka (Finland) in Jan-Apr'18 up 16.4% Y-o-Y to 5.33 million tonnes
In January-April 2018, the Port of HaminaKotka (Finland) handled 5.33 million tonnes of cargo (+16.4%, year-on-year). According to the port authorities, transshipment of export cargo climbed by 5% to 3.7 million tonnes including 961,390 tonnes of paper (+8.2%), 465,890 tonnes of cellulose (-16.1%), 773,760 tonnes of liquid bulk cargo (-0.4%) and 553,510 tonnes of dry bulk cargo (+43.5%).
Transshipment of import cargo grew by 54.4% to 1.63 million tonnes including 432,080 toones of unitized cargo (+17.8%), 305,120 tonnes of dry bulk (+99.1%) and 348,020 tonnes of liquid bulk cargo (+16.8%).
Transshipment of transit cargo grew by 27.7% to 1.46 million tonnes, domestic traffic dropped by 58.1% to 108,250 tonnes.
Transshipment of containers was flat at 227,740 TEUs, transshipment of Ro-Ro cargo fell by 7.6% to 4,621 units.
The number of calls grew by 9.1% to 899 calls.

Port of Kotka comprises ports of Mussalo, Hietanen, Kantasatama, berth Puolanlaituri (Polish berth), berth Halla, and also port premises Sunila. Port of Hamina is the eastern port of Finland located 35 km from the Russian border. In 2017, the port handled 14.66 mln t of cargo.
