MSC Group celebrates seaview cruise ship christening in Genoa
To welcome the latest addition to the ever-growing MSC Cruises fleet, the new flagship MSC Seaview, colleagues from across MSC Group took part in three days of events in Genoa, culminating in a ceremony on 9 June.
The ceremony, attended by MSC Group founder and Executive Chairman Gianluigi Aponte and MSC Group President & Chief Executive Diego Aponte, featured a variety of celebrities and stars, including the traditional ribbon cutting by Godmother Sophia Loren to launch the bottle of champagne to name MSC Seaview.
While the event marked the third ship to come into service just 12 months after the start of an industry-unprecedented 10.5 billion-euro investment plan for MSC Cruises, it also underscored the strength of the MSC Group, with many executives from the cargo division of MSC and their clients in attendance.
More than 600 customers from over 200 companies heard about MSC’s substantial cargo carrying capacity, services and approach to sustainability and discussed first-hand with MSC executives the current trends in the container shipping market.
