Major amphibious ship Ivan Gren to join Russian Navy before late June 2018
The major amphibious assault ship Ivan Gren will join the Russian Navy until the end of June this year, says press center of RF Defence Ministry.
The major amphibious assault ship Ivan Gren – Project 11711 lead ship – was designed by the JSC Nevsky Design Bureau and built at the Yantar shipyard in Kaliningrad.
Project 11711 is further development of Project 1171, which was used in the 60-70s by the abovementioned shipyard for building a series of 14 ships.
The ship Ivan Gren’s state trials started in November 2017. The tests continued in early April 2018. The tests confirmed full compliance of ship’s performances with the technical design specifications.
The major amphibious assault ship Ivan Gren has been built by the RF Defence Ministry’s order at the Yantar shipyard. The plant is continuing to build the vessel Pyotr Morgunov, the next this project serial ship laid down in June 2015 and floated out on 25 May 2018.
