Kronshtadt Group unveils Russia’s first e-navigation testbed

Kronshtadt Group says it presented Russia’s first e-navigation testbed at SMM-2018 (Hamburg, Germany). The Hermitage project presentation was held at the Marinet Conference focused on the most promising high technologies in the maritime industry.

The project was launched for testing navigation, communication and information systems, onboard and onshore facilities. The testbed area includes the Neva and Svir rivers, the Ladoga lake and a considerable part of the Gulf of Finland. It is the first water area in Russia to test state-of-the-art technologies in the field of safe navigation in sea waters and on inland water ways.

SMM, international trade fair for shipbuilding, machinery and maritime technology held since 1963 is a leading industry-specific forum involving representatives of shipyards, shipping companies, design bureaus, suppliers of ship’s equipment, systems, services and technologies in the maritime industry. SMM brings together about 3,000 exhibitors from more than 60 countries.

Marinet is a working group of the National Technology Initiative in the area of advanced maritime technologies development. The National Technology Initiative (NTI) is a key long-term program of the public-private partnership in development of promising new markets based on high-tech solutions that will determine development of the global and Russian economy in the next 15-20 years. The MariNet Working Group numbers over 200 experts representing more than 80 companies, scientific centers and high education institution as well as heads of ad hoc ministries and agencies.

The MariNet roadmap is aimed at support and promotion of solutions and companies focused on ocean development technologies, digital navigation and innovative shipbuilding to the global market.

The Marinet Conference on the most promising maritime high technologies held at SMM-2018, Hamburg on 5 September 2018 gathered representatives of international companies and scientific centers. The Conference programme included panel discussions on digital navigation and unmanned shipping as well as maritime robotics fest.

The Conference was organized by the Industry Association MARINET and Media Group PortNews with the support of Russian Venture Company (RVC).
