MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company to continue its partnership with Mercy Ships, as the non-profit organization marks Cargo Day 2018, the company said in its press release.
MSC has supported Mercy Ships since 2011 in its efforts to use hospital vessels to deliver free world-class health services to vulnerable people living in the developing world. MSC’s contribution involves the provision of free transportation of medical equipment, which helps Mercy Ships to re-allocate a significant component of its logistics budget to other important life-changing undertakings.
Mercy Ships Cargo Day, held on October 3, is an opportunity for the shipping and trading community to support and raise funds for the organisation. Participants can pledge cargoes, make donations, or share their commission in favour of Mercy Ships.
This year, MSC has once again decided to make a pledge to contribute to the societies the company operates in, and support the most vulnerable people through its core business expertise and broader charity efforts.
Since 1978, Mercy Ships has provided services and materials in developing nations valued at over USD 1 billion and impacting more than 2.5 million direct beneficiaries, through 587 port visits.
