VNIIR-Progress St. Petersburg supplies electrical equipment for Atomflot icebreaker

VNIIR-Progress St. Petersburg, ABS Electro subsidiary, in the frame of the contract with Baltic Shipyard delivered automatic network switches and launch protection equipment for universal nuclear-powered icebreaker of project 22220, order No. 05707, the company says in a press release.

Dual-draft nuclear-powered icebreaker vessel “Sibir” - the first in a series of project icebreakers - is designed to overcome ices 2.8-2.9 meters thick at steady rate and will be utilized in the Northern Sea Route and Arctic expeditions. By 2019 it will be included in the fleet of Atomflot, Rosatom subsidiary.

Baltic Shipyard (a subsidiary of United Shipbuilding Corporation) is a lead national shipbuilding company, producer of various power equipment and machinery for vessels, as well as a supplier of non-ferrous and ferrous castings for its own ships and to other shipyards.
