NYK introduced its green finance initiatives on February 23 at a seminar sponsored by the Institution of Professional Engineers, Japan, the company said in its release.
The event featured four presentations and a number of speeches to introduce professional engineers to domestic and foreign green initiatives as the trend toward decarbonisation advances.
Yuichi Shirane, deputy manager of the Corporate Finance Team in NYK’s Finance Group, made a presentation titled “About Green Finance,” emphasizing that environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives are receiving a lot of attention from investors and financial institutions, and NYK’s green financing can be used to raise funds in a manner suitable to the current surroundings.

Last year, in accordance with its medium-term management plan “Staying Ahead 2022 with Digitalization and Green,” NYK was the first company in the global shipping industry to issue labelled green bonds, and afterwards the company received a green loan to enforce its green finance.
