Russian Railways and Saint-Petersburg set to shift cargo handling facilities beyond city limits
Russian Railways Board Chairman Oleg Belozerov, Acting Governor of Saint-Petersburg Akelsandr Beglov have signed an agreement on cooperation in the sphere of railway transport till 2024. The document signed today, 6 June 2019, at Saint-Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF 2019) outlines key directions for the development and renovation of railway infrastructure in the interest of Saint-Petersburg citizens and guest as well as in the interest of businesses.
According to Russian Railways, the list of projects includes shifting cargo handling facilities beyond the city limits particularly through creation of Baltic Transport and Logistic Center with satellites based on Russian Railways’ cargo terminal in Shushary.
