The Port of Gdansk announced partnership with Port of Rotterdam, introduced an innovative system in Munich

The Port of Gdansk Authority took part in the 2019 transport logistic fair in Munich, June 4-7. During the event, Gdansk's port announced it had established cooperation with the Port of Rotterdam on a system for searching for transport connections for customers.

Poland's largest port will launch the Navigate system for its business partners and customers transporting goods via Gdansk.

"This is an innovative system developed by the Port of Rotterdam. It makes it possible to choose the shortest and the least expensive route for the transport of cargo. There are similar mobile applications available enabling travellers to plan their journey, taking into consideration any stopovers and changes, travel times and costs. We are one of the first ports in the world to introduce Navigate," says Lukasz Greinke, President of the Port of Gdansk.

Navigate is a shipping service comparison platform for the entire supply chain. In the first phase, it will only cover the transport of containers, and later, it will be expanded to include other types of cargo. Navigate makes it possible to review the most efficient connections, taking into account sea, railway, and barge transport. The program includes a catalogue of companies operating both within the Port of Gdansk and around it. The routes suggested by Navigate include connections between Gdansk and other ports of the world, as well as European inland terminals.

"The development of this application and its introduction at the Port of Gdansk reflects our ambition to make the Port of Rotterdam the smartest port in the world. Taking a leading role in the digital transformation will make the Port of Rotterdam more efficient, reliable, and competitive. Cooperation in this field with other ports also optimises the potential of digital solutions. The more ports use Navigate, the more valuable the application becomes," explains Allard Castelein, CEO of the Port of Rotterdam.

Navigate is available on the Port of Gdansk's website. Now, every visitor to the Port's website may check the most suitable transport connection between Gdansk and other seaports in the world and European inland terminals.
