BC Ferries adds extra sailings for the summer
BC Ferries welcomes new and returning customers on board this summer with extra sailings for peak season travel starting June 21. Seasonal adjustments to sailing times will also be in effect on many routes. Among them are Vancouver (Tsawwassen) – Victoria (Swartz Bay) route, West Vancouver (Horseshoe Bay) – Nanaimo (Departure Bay) route, Vancouver (Tsawwassen) – Nanaimo (Duke Point) route.
Starting June 26, two vessels will provide 16 sailings per day between 5:15 a.m. and 10:45 p.m., seven days per week until September 2.
Summer service on the Horseshoe Bay – Langdale route includes a second dedicated vessel providing extra sailings throughout the season. To meet peak demand between Metro Vancouver and the Southern Gulf Islands, BC Ferries also scheduled additional sailings for this route.
The most popular travel times during the summer are generally Thursday and Friday afternoons, as well as Saturday morning, with travellers departing from Tsawwassen and Horseshoe Bay terminals. Historically, Sunday afternoon is the most popular time for people to return from Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast. To avoid sailing waits, BC Ferries recommends customers reserve, or travel outside these times. Customers without a reservation can see the best times to travel on our website, bcferries.com.
Customers with flexibility can take advantage of promotional pricing until September 4. The Sunrise and Sunset Savings promotion offers discounts on more than 1,600 early morning and late evening sailings. The Bring It All promotion offers customers travelling with recreational vehicles savings on 1,100 summer sailings. Information is available online at bcferries.com.
