United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) creates subdivisions USC-Propulsion and USC-Interior, USC President Aleksey Rakhmanov said when answering the question of IAA PortNews during media conference in Moscow.
According to him, a partner has already been selected for USC-Interior with organization and legal procedures underway. Aleksey Rakhmanov has not revealed the company name.
USC-Propulsion is to integrate the competence of creation of propulsion units. USC has not yet opted the a partner. It can be both a foreign company established its production facilities in Russia and one of the domestic leaders in the industry.
The USC head emphasized that introduction of amendments into RF Government’s Decree No 719 prepared by the Ministry of Industry and Trade (in the part of criteria for determining vessels’ Russian origin) has stirred up the interest of foreign manufacturers to localization in the territory of Russia. However, sanctions hinder the search for a foreign partner.
United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC OJSC) is the largest shipbuilding company in Russia. It was set up in 2007 with 100% federal ownership. The holding comprises 40 companies and organizations (major shipbuilding and shiprepairing companies as well as leading design bureaus). Currently, USC consolidates the bulk of the domestic shipbuilding complex. The Russian market is the main focus of the state corporation though it also exports its products to 20 countries worldwide.
