Ships are to be built under ‘keel quota’ programme for fishing farm named after Lenin
Workshops restored at the former shipbuilding facilities of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky by Torsiotest will be used by the company for construction of six small seiners. According to the press center of the Kamchatka Territory Legislative Assembly, the ships are intended for one of the leading fishery companies in the region, fishing farm named after Lenin.
The first ship is to be launched in November 2023 with the delivery scheduled for May 2025.
Keel-laying of the first seiner was held in June 2021. Its hold capacity is 90 tonnes. New seiners feature higher level of comfort.
According to the investment project requirements foreseen by the ‘keel quota’ programme, most of components and equipment on new ships should be of Russian origin. Therefore, the company sees no problems caused by sanctions.
“We have obtained 80% of everything needed for the first two ships. The only question is about the trawling system which has been ordered abroad. Our suppliers promise they will not fail us,” said Nikolai Tovkan, General Director of Torsiotest.
