Container throughput of Xiamen's Haicang port area grew 33.8 per cent in 2007 to 1.88 million TEU, accounting for 40.7 per cent of the total container volume of Xiamen, Xinhua reported.
Total cargo throughput of Haicang came to 21.35 million tonnes, an increase of 35.3 per cent, the report said.
Haicang, rated the best deep-water port area in Xiamen, with 30 deep-water berths projected and 15 in use, now serves 20 container services linking 40 ports in Europe, US, Japan, Singapore and Indonesia, the report said.
