Falcon records 240 tonnes of export coffee cargo to Russia from Kochi port
Falcon Infrastructure Ltd (FIL), which operates Kerala's first full-fledged inland Container Freight Station (CFS) near here, has achieved a record stuffing of 240 tonnes of export cargo of coffee a single day for shipment to Russia from the Kochi port.
The cargo belonged to Harrisons Malayalam ltd (HML), a company of the plantation major RPG group. There were totally 12 containers stuffed and dispatched on a single day, K Mohammed Kutty, FIL Chairman said in press release.
This was a major achievement against the backdrop of the negative image of the Kerala labour, he said.
The CFS at Kalamassery has also started reefer services stuffing and de-stuffing of refrigerated containers meant for perishable cargo like seafood.
According to the release, the CFS, which is located located close to the road and rail links to the Vallarpadam International Container Transhipment Terminal, is part of the integrated logistics services facility of the Falcon group in the same premises. The facility was among the projects featured at the Global Investor meet organised by the Kerala Government few years ago.
Falcon is also holding talks for setting up a Free Trade Warehousing Zone with public private participation, Kutty said. The rs 200 crore project is coming up in an area of 100 acres near Kalamassery and the company has plans to launch an IPO for the same.
More Free Trade Warehousing Zones and SEZs would be required in Kerala before the commissioning of the Vallarpadam terminal by 2009, he said.
