Container Corporation of India Q1 net up 7.88%
Container Corporation of India reported a small rise in its standalone net profit for the first quarter ended June 2008. During the quarter, the profit of the company rose 7.88% to Rs 2,018.34 million from Rs 1,870.90 million in the same quarter, previous year.
The company posted earnings of Rs 15.53 a share during the quarter, registering 46.06% decline over prior year period.
Net sales for the quarter rose 6.05% to Rs 8,228.40 million, while total income for the quarter rose 7.04% to Rs 8,681.15 million, when compared with the prior year period.
During the quarter, the company reported a fall in operating margin of 370.04 basis points to 25.70% on higher production cost and depreciation cost rose 6.37% to Rs 274.66 million over previous year period.
Shares of the company declined Rs 0.05, or 0.01%, to settle at Rs 750.00. The total volume of shares traded was 7,455 at the BSE (Wednesday).
