PKT (St.-Petersburg) box throughput down by 16% in Jan.-Oct., 2009

Box throughput of the First Container Terminal (PKT St.-Petersburg) decreased by 16% (to 749,591 TEU) within 10 months 2009 as compared to the corresponding of 2008, stated press-service of the National container company (which manages PKT). In October, 2009 container turnover of PKT almost reached 2008 figure and amounted to 90, 525 TEU (-1.3% against October, 2008 and +8.1% against September 2009).

43,412 TEU was loaded into vessels for export in October 2009, 47,113 TEU – unloaded for import. Refrigerating containers turnover amounted to 10,953 TEU. Overall number of vessels handled in October was 73, average turnover per a vessel was 1,240 TEU.

National Container Company (NCC) is the Russia’s largest container terminals operator, a leader in the stevedoring services market. First Quantum FESCO Transport Group hold equal share fractions of NCC. Overall box throughput of NCC’s terminals was over 1.7 mln TEU in 2008.

NCC assets include First Container Terminal (PKT), NUTEP container terminal (Novorssiisk), Ukrtranscontainer container terminal (Iliichevsk, Odessa region), Ust-Luga container terminal (Leningrad region) and backing container terminal and logistic centre ogistics-Terminal (Shushary, St.-Petersburg).
