IMTP-handled cargo volumes down by 14% (the Ukraine), Jan.-Oct. 2009

As per the information provided by the company’s press-service, volumes of cargo handled by GP Ilichevskii Commercial Seaport (IMTP, the Ukraine) decreased by 14% (13.847 mln tons) in January-October, 2009 as compared to the corresponding period of 2008. The volume of cargo handled in October, 2009 decreased by 8% (to 1.515 mln tons) against October 2008 figures.

At the same time the volume of general cargo handled in October current year decreased by 32.2% against October, 2008. Bulk cargo volumes increased by 21.4%; those of liquid cargo -  by 3.1% in the reporting period.

Наиболее высокие темпы роста за октябрь текущего года в сравнении с аналогичным периодом 2008 года дали металл (+ 3,4%), растительное масло (+14,6%), зерно (+24,5%), сера (+72,3%), шрот (+275%).

Vehicles flow witnessed most significant slump in comparison with the same period of previous year - 94.5%

Volumes of containers handled in October, 2009 decreased by 35.1% but shoed 9.4%-increase as compared to September current year.

Ilichevskii Commercial Seaport is one of four Ukraine’s largest ports. The enterpris’s facilities allow transhipping over 30 mln tons of cargo annually. The mooring line of the port with its 29 berths is stretched for 6 km. Ilichevskii Commercial Seaport has three railway entrances and three check points for vehicles. As of 2008 results the port increased its cargo turnover by 18% (18.9 mln tons) as compared to 2007 results.
