Cargo turnover of Helsinki port (Finland) decreased by 19% (down to 8.218 mln tons) in January-October, 2009 as compared to the corresponding period figures of 2008. As per the information provided by the port administration, box throughput decreased by 18% (to 290,000 TEUs), volume of wheeled facilities (trucks, trailers) transhipped went down by19% ( to 358,000 units).
General cargo transhipment decreased by 24% ( to 7.14 mln tons) 3.5 (-25%) mln tons of which was transhipped for export, 3.6 mln tons (-23%) - for import.
It is necessary to remind, cargo turnover of the port amounted to 11.856 mln tons in 2008.
