In January-October, 2009 volumes of general cargoes handled decreased by over 50% (to 252.6 thousand tons), at the same time dry cargo transhipment volumes increased by 30.6% (to 3 mln 422.8 thousand tons). Petroleum products transhipment went up by 12.5% (to 18 mln 968.7 thousand tons) within the reporting period. Ro-Ro cargo volumes reduced by 28.2% (to 2 mln 214,4 thousand tons).
Tallinn stands third port of the Baltic Sea in its area after the ports of St.-Petersburg and Primorsk. The port of Tallinn consists of 5 ports or the so called port zones: Muuga, Old City Harbour, Paljassaare, Paldiski South and Saaremaa. Cargo turnover of the port of Tallinn amounted to 29 mln 77 thousand 2008.
