Volumes of cargoes transported by water in the Ukraine decreased by 52.9% (8 mln 111.1 thousand tons) within 10 months, 2009 as compared to the corresponding period figures of 2008, as of information provided by State Statistics Committee of the Ukraine. In October, 2009 cargo transportation by water reduced by 34,4% (to 1.17 mln tons) against October, 2008.
Volume of river freight decreased by 58.5% (to 4 mln 193.3 thousand tons), sea freight – by 45.1%, (to 3 mln 917.8 thousand tons) within the reporting period as compared to the corresponding period of 2008.
It is necessary to remind, in 2008 Ukrainian water freight decreased by 19.6% (to 19 mln 494.6 thousand tons) against 2007 figures.
