In liquid cargoes segment overall cargo turnover increase was 5% (to 2 mln 320.8 thousand tons) in 2009 as compared to the corresponding period of 2008. At the same time volumes of diesel fuel transhipment in a specialized terminal IPP OJSC increased by 24.1% (by 963.2 thousand tons) against January-October, 2008.
Volumes of bulk cargo transhipment increased by 1.5 times (by 4 mln 294.1 thousand) in January-October, 2009 as compared to the corresponding period of 2008. Grain transhipment (+68.2%), iron ore and iron ore concentrate which volume reached 3.3% (2 mln 348.1 thousand) of NMTP group overall cargo turnover made up growth basis in this sector. Volumes of mineral fertilizers increased by 20.4% in January-October, 2009 as compared to the corresponding period of 2008.
Within the reporting period general cargoes transhipment volumes amounted to 9 mln 180.7 thousand tons (- 2.2%) against corresponding period. At the same time volumes of ferrous and non-ferrous metals almost reached the level of January-October, 2008. An insignificantly weak dynamics in general cargoes segment is explained by lumber transhipment decrease by 127.3 thousand tons (by 14.4%) as compared to the corresponding period figures of 2008. At the same time volume of lumber transhipped went up by 61.7% (from 59.3 thousand tons to 95.9 thousand tons) in October against September current year.
As per 10-month period results of 2009, box transhipment volume reduced by 38.9% (to 192,000 TEU) against the corresponding period of 2008. In October, 2009 NMTP Group box turnover increased by 20.5% against September current year due to cargo flow increase in the terminals of Novoroslesexport OJSC and BSL LLC.
