Net profit of MMTP (Murmansk) up by 29%, QI-III 2009

Net profit of Murmansk Commercial Seaport OJSC (MMTP) increased by 29% (to RUR855.816 mln)  under Russian Accounting Standards (RAS) within 9 months, 2009 as compared to the corresponding period of 2008. In January-September, 2009 company’s income went up by 25% (to RUR 2 bln 628.145mln) against the corresponding period of 2008.   
 
As was earlier informed, in January-September, 2009 cargo turnover of the stevedoring company increased by 11.5% (to 11 mln 524.9 thousand tons.) against the corresponding period figures of 2008.

Murmansk Commercial Seaport OJSC was established in 1994 on base of the public enterprise and nowadays it is one of Russia’s busiest ports. The port has 17 berths with total length of some 3,000 meters. The length and depth enables the port to handle vessels of up to 15.5 meters in draft and over 265 meters in length. The port mainly handles non-ferrous metal and alloys, rolled ferrous metal, coal, apatite concentrate, alumina; scrap metal and iron-ore pellets, chemicals in big-bags, construction materials, foodstuffs, technological equipment and containerized cargo. In 2008 the company handled 14,329,183 tons of cargo.
