United Chemical Company Uralchem OJSC (URALCHEM, OJSC) and Rigas tirdzniecibas osta (Latvia) plan to construct a terminal on mineral fertilizers transhipment in Riga of 2 mln tons annual capacity by 2012. As per Uralchem OJSC, the according agreement on creation of joint-stock SIA Riga fertilizer terminal was signed between URALCHEM FREIGHT LIMITED an affiliate of Uralchem OJSC and SIA Rigas tirdzniecibas osta.
Designing of handling complexes of the terminal was currently started. Putting into commission of the first stage of the terminal will take place in 15 months. Investment volume is not stated.
Dmitriy Osipov, CEO of URALCHEM, OJSC, pointed out when commenting on creation of a joint-stock company with SIA Rigas tirdzniecibas osta, ‘Creation of a joint-stock company SIA Riga fertilizer terminal and opening of the own transhipment terminal will enable URALCHEM to provide for the guaranteed transhipment volume of goods to be exported’.
